Kikay Kit

Hello WoC means hello Kikayness, and that means a Kikay Kit is a given! KiKayKit, aka KKK.

I want to have the option to switch shoulder bags easily, so I need to have all the retouching basics kept together in one container. I know there are those 'bag in bags' organizer that can carry everything from Kikay stuff to documents and gadgets, but I want a real kikay kit! Or maybe I'm just looking for a reason to utilize with Too Faced Leopard Pouch?

I love this pouch I love this pouch I love this pouch!

I mean look at it! It's adorable!! It's plush, with a steady Velcro closure, and neon pink lining. Neon pink! How can it get any better!!! Well, it's also double flapped, so the items don't spill out even if the bag tumbles over. Keewlness!!!

Now, on to the goodies within! I have a very oily skin tone, especially along my T-Zone, and oil control films are a MUST for me. If you don't already know, retouching with powder (loose or pressed) before removing the oil on your face can do horrible things for your look, and your skin. First, you're layering powder on top of oil, on top of your makeup, on top of whatever you used to prep your skin- moisturizer, sunblock, primer, or all three. That, my friend, is gonna get cakey. Cake-y. And cakey is NOT the look this season.

We want to look fresh. Glow. You can't achieve that by covering your face with pressed powder and looking a cakey matte mess, no ma'am! If you must retouch, do lightly. And always, always BLOT FIRST. I'm not sure if this is how it is for you guys with dry skin, but for people like me who can go from matte to oil slick in a few hours, BLOTTING PAPER is a must.

I had JUST run out of this the other day, thanks LilK. Got spare, good thing!

I really like this one from Kleenex. You can get this at any drugstore, or in a department store's beauty section. It's cute, it absorbs well (one sheet is enough for me), and it doesn't affect my makeup. It's also sturdy, it doesn't feel like it's about to rip in pieces, and it's not super flimsy that you worry about peeling off two to three sheets at a time. There's adhesive on the cover to assist you in sliding off one sheet. The sheet should come off with the cover once you open it, tada! But when you're about 2/3's through the pack, the adhesive starts to give. You can remedy this by simply adding a small double-sided tape to replace the old one, or you can just slide a sheet out yourself. It can be done.

The sheet has two sides with different textures. One side is felt-like with flower patterns, I think this is so the oil doesn't go from one side to the opposite. Helpful. The other side is the sleek one, which absorbs and lifts oil from your face. Makes it easy to remember, thanks to the difference.

After blotting, I sometimes take time to do a quick retouch. I have been using loose retouch/finishing/dusting/whathaveyou powders since March, I think I just started to lose interest in them. Kinda like the flavor of the month thing? It just became too much of a hassle. Sure, I've got a small sifter jar with me, and a retractable kabuki. But it's still a messy ordeal, compared to retouching through pressed powder!

There was a debate between THIS or LOOSE BEN NYE. This won.

I started to hunt for the perfect retouch powder for me, and lo and behold, here it is! Physician's Formula Les Botaniques in OopsiDaisy! Got mine from Amazon, about $5-$5.5 when you figure in US shipping. I just love the name! And look at that pattern? Cute, yes? Very, very cute! But besides that, the product itself is pretty banging!

It has antioxidants (I am a sucker for this) and botanical compounds (am I saying this right?) that helps fight skin irritants, and keep your skin healthy and glowing. There is a slight (emphasis on slight!) shimmer on the flower pattern in the middle, which helps boost your natural radiance. No, it won't make you look like a Cullen, the shimmer doesn't even register when applied. It's just to make you bloom! AND it has SPF15, as well. It gives a semi matte finish that is just lovely and natural looking. Not greasy nor shiny, but just right. And it's pretty! Pretty pretty pretty!!! It's also discontinued so I hoarded as much as I could. Look how pretty! (Yeah, I'm shallow. Get over it!)

You can opt to apply this with a powder puff (purchase it separately, and change ever so often), or use a brush. I went with the brush. It's more hygienic, I think... And I feel like the brush fibers help remove more oil and dirt from my skin, as opposed to a puff pressing everything back in. I like the sweeping motion. And I get a more controlled, lighter finish which I can build up.

Always handy

A mirror, which I got for a friggin steal from CD-R King (I will never tire of saying this, that place rawks!!) at P50, or was it P20? Either way, steal!! It's so pretty!! Classy print. The mirrors themselves (yes, both sides are plated with mirror) are very clear and scratch free. It closes tightly but opens in a snap. And it's just so pretty, did I already say that? Pretty! A mirror is always welcome, when retouching is concerned.

This is not fragrance-free, but does well moisturizing my lips.

A moisturizer is also something I think belongs in the KKK. For you, for me, for her, for him, for everyone! Dry normal oily alike! I may not use it that often, but when I am in need of some moisture, I would much rather have a product at hand, rather than letting my skin thirst forever! Nivea is a good name to trust, but I've been looking at La Roche-Posay lately, and might switch to that. Til then, this Nivea Ultra Hydrating Crème is my current go-to. The tin is such a good buy as well, it contains a lot of product, will serve me well on a trip out of town, and doesn't eat up much space in my KKK. I also have the tube version of this.

I love the whipped texture of this, it's really, truly, creamy!

And last, but most definitely not the least, is a tinted lip balm, or a lipstick of choice (will insert pic, later). I always have a lip balm with me, my lips get chapped like heck so easily, it can go from chapped-not-chapped-not-chapped-not before the sun goes down. Now, back when I hadn't had a taste of MAC lipsticks, I would say that I would never substitute a lipstick for my lip balm in my KKK. Back when! After trying MAC tubes, my thoughts have changed. Those babies are amazing! I get the price point, now, and yeah I'm definitely willing to purchase them at full price. And that's saying a lot, from me! I think the cheapest tube is at $14? Gah! The game has changed! Wallet, savings, credit card, husband, run now, run! Run for you lives!!

Now, I have two tubes on my KKK. The other is whichever MAC lipstick suits my that day, and the staple is this: Smashbox's Lip Treatment in Shine.

I know what you're expecting me to say- it's pretty. Ha! Well! ...isn't it? And it serves it purpose, too! It's conditioning, and it doesn't leave my lips looking naked all day. Let's face it, whatever lipstick you wear in the morning, fades after you've lunched your way through the afternoon. (ELF's makeup lock and seal wants to prove me wrong, let's see!)

Smashbox's Lip Treatment gives me such a perky pink finish. It's not matte, but not sleek nor shiny. Not glossy, no. And no, I don't have a lip gloss on my KKK. I just HATE their thick, greasy feel. yes, they make your lips look so juicy and luscious, but I hate the tradeoff. I can actually feel the glossy gunk bringing weight on my lips. Oh, gravity! Nope, no thanks.  Until I find a gloss that's naked light, and doesn't transfer to every little thing, then I'm pretty much solved retouching with Smashbox.

I always have my Smashbox Lip Treatment here, but left it on my bag pocket. Easy access :)
So that's about it, I think! I quite enjoyed this post. What's on your KKK right now? :)

There can be only one...

Heeeeere we are! Born to be kings! We're the princes of the universe!

I don't know why I always, always have to shout that out whenever the phrase 'there can be only one' comes up. I. Just. Have to! I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings!

Sigh! Yes, growing up, I had the biggest crush on Duncan MacLeod. If I sounded like a deranged loony to you, ("what the heck is she italicizing about??") then you, my dear, are either too young to know, or too clueless to have noticed. Either way, I feel sorry for you for missing out on Duncan. He was there before the McHotties got their big breaks. No, no McDreamy or McSteamy can ever replace McDuncan.

Mia 2, Top with Mint Green Buttons; Aria, Bottom with Grey Buttons

But enough about that, I'm not posting to reminisce of the era of the Immortals. Their head-chopping days are long gone... this post is a battle between two different kinds of princes- the princes of the consumer skin care products. Facial care, in particular.

The Clarisonic Mia 2 and the Clarisonic Aria. As much as I love these babies, I absotively possolutely cannot keep both! I underlined it, italicized and posted it in bold. That makes it final. Final final FINAL! Only one! And so the battle begins...

Here are their literatures :P from A Serenity

Mia 2 is an extension of our popular Mia family that gives you all the  benefits of sonic cleansing in a compact, easy-to-use style. Mia 2  features two speeds, a one-minute pulsing T-Timer® and a protective  travel case for on-the-go sonic cleansing. Now you have more choices for beautiful skin.

Clarisonic Aria infuses sonic cleansing with a harmonic blend of  function and form. Sleek, modern, intuitive, Aria sings with 3 speeds, a real-time battery life indicator, USB-enabled pLink charger, and a  drying stand that converts to a charging station when coupled with the  pLink charger.

I have been using Aria the past couple of weeks, and I must say that the sight of it on its stand, beside my sink, got me giddy! The three oscillating 'strength' selection (should I say speed?) was one thing I utilized as early as second use. The default was set to the lowest speed, and it just didn't feel like it was doing anything. I should have known better, but what can I say, I'm wild and reckless, and went straight to speed 3.

A 2 minute session with Aria on that power level left my face tingling as if I've just gotten electrocuted! It was bliss! LOL! After a week and a half, I started to notice that this speed setting was a bit too much for my skin, especially since I was using it twice a day. My skin felt abnormally tight, and dehydrated.

It was love at first cleanse between me and my Aria, I cherished out 2 minute morning and night dates. My pores instantly seemed smaller after 2 weeks, and no new breakouts occur. Nothing apart from my usual monthly troubles.

Then, a sudden mishap drove our family to go out of town for a few days- couldn't leave my Aria behind. As I was packing, my mind kept drifting back to the Mia 2's hard travel case.

My Aria felt naked among my stuff! I wrapped her up in a towel, but that just isn't what I had in mind when we travel together. THAT SHELL, that MIA 2 SHELL, I WANT!

I googled to no avail, there just isn't a shell for the Aria. Oh, sad. But I got over it. Minor throwback, I mean how often do I travel? Once in two months? Aria will survive. Everything was back to normal. until.....

A Clarisonic Mia 2 fell in my lap! WTF! Is this a joke? Days after we got back home, the Mia 2 showed up. What to do, what to do? It came with that even niftier hard shell!

Granted that the charger sucked, compared to Aria's sleek USB-Plug outlet, that hard shell really feels like a necessity.

Mia2 does everything Aria does! Her shortcomings aren't really shortcomings. Sure, she has only two speeds/strengths to choose from, versus Aria's three, but  like I said, my skin got tired from Aria's third setting, I've really switched back to the medium setting, and now to low. Aria can go on for two minutes straight, Mia2, uhm, I'm not exactly sure. Does it? If it doesn't, well, how hard is it to press the switch again for another minute of cleansing? Takes less than a second.

Some basic comparisons, they weigh basically the same for me

They both beep when it's time to move from your forehead to nose+chin, then to one cheek and the other. They both have magnetic chargers that are quite fuss free once you tie the excess length of the cord back. And hey, Mia2 charges quicker! I only have to leave it overnight to charge. Aria takes well longer than that! They feel just as heavy to me, and texture wise, the Mia2 is a bit matte and the Aria, glossy, but not to the point that it slips out of my wet hand. They both fit the same brush heads, they're both white, and they both give me that same refreshing feeling after each cleansing session.

Oh, trouble! Time to get help! Off I went to seek advice from my dear Dalagindings. I wasn't surprised that Maria Masungit was the first to give her opinion, and really led me to my answer. She even made a chart, look! LOL!

c/o MariaMasungit
Truth is, the answer's been there all night in my head. It was just dancing around in the moonlight, a bit hard to see, but now I know.

Dear Mia 2, you are very pretty, and you cheered me up lots the past few days, but unfortunately, I am not the one for you. You belong to someone else, as do I.

Dear Aria.. will you accept this rose?

PS: I wasn't feeling this post very much. Sorry! It shows!

Drying Makeup Brushes

Trying out the whatnot I bought from Japan Store, P88.00
I'm not gonna talk about washing brushes here, though I've already blogged about 'spot-cleaning' them. This is about drying brushes. Plain and simple. If you don't have makeup brushes, you probably think this post is a joke. C'mon, how complicated could that be, right? Sic. I used to think so, too, before I started buying makeup brushes.

Also, don't wash them in such a way that the water
is running towards the handle. Not like this
either,  this photo was totally staged!
I've mentioned how caring for makeup brushes is important. Dirty brushes = bacteria. Bacteria = acne. Acne = NO THANKS. Properly drying brushes can also help them remain cleaner. Not just that, it extends your brushes' lifespan. Yep. You don't want dead brushes. That's $$$$$$$ down the grave :P You've invested enough in this pile of glorified packed bristles, so make sure you get your money's worth.

Aside from deep cleansing, spot cleaning, and proper storage, drying is also a key factor to healthy, happy brushes!

I'm not an expert at makeup brushes, but I do know that you do not, by any means, blowdry them. No. No. Noooooo. That's one way of ruining them. Some bristles could melt due to the sheer heat of the hairdryer. The quality and texture of the brush would get altered. Direct heat is a no-no for drying brushes. That includes letting them out in the sun to bake.

This picture is actually here to portray my Spelling Bee credentials. Nice, ei

You also shouldn't dry them laid flat. I know that's the most convenient thing, but try not to do this. Just look at how the brush is made. The brush bristles are coiled together inside the ferrule (this is the metal thingy that's directly next to the brush hairs), and the ferrule is glued to the handle (uhm, pretty obvious what that one is). Drying them flat means the liquid or moisture from washing the bristles can pool inside the ferrule. This can cause the material holding the bristles together to loosen- thus, hairfall! Or in WoC, shedding. A bit of shedding is not out of the ordinary when prepping new brushes, but it should be insignificant. Shedding due to damage inside the ferrule is like brush cancer! That brush's days are numbered. The water there could also weaken the glue between the ferrule and the handle,  AND of course can be an ideal ground for harboring bacteria.

DONT dry them this way.
Following the same principle, you shouldn't dry brushes upside down. Or is it right side up? Just don't dry them standing up with the bristles on top!

Tada! Brush to Guard. Guard to Hook. Hook to Hang...er.
The ideal way to dry makeup brushes is to invert them, handle side up and bristles pointing down. This is quite an unnatural state for these brushes, I know. That's why you're gonna have to get a bit creative.

That'll do!

just keep rolling.

You can buy drying racks or rolls, which have slots and elastics to keep your brushes in the right position til they dry. You can roll your brushes on a towel (like you would if you were doing a cinnamon roll? What's that, you don't make cinnamon rolls? Me neither.) with the brushes inside, and prop the entire roll up so it stands. There are many tricks to drying brushes. Here is mine.

Just a wee bit of the guard covering the bristles
I use mesh brush guards that are at least an inch longer than the brush it holds, hang on end to a hook, and hang the hook where ever it's good to have it dry. In my case, the terrace. I prefer this method because it seems to be the most 'breathable' option for the brushes. And as an added bonus, the brush guard can hold the bristles in place, so they don't dry flaring out. Take note some brush bristles hold the shape they dry in. I get a bit OC with this.

To dry, just pop the brush (again, bristles pointing down) through the bottom tip of the brush guard, and find a good place to hang them. When they are dry, pop them out by pushing them upwards to the top end of the brush guard, so the brush glides out without going against the direction of the bristles.

I purchased the brush guard by 40inches over at Amazon (the Wilderness, as I call it) for $5. If you were to make 8-inch brush guards, that's 5pcs. There are also pre-cut brush guards available. You don't necessarily need a brush guard for EACH makeup brush you have. Just make sure you wash them by batch, so the guards can accommodate the brushes that need drying.

I over-purchased the brush guards, not sure what to do with my spare.... does it mean I need more brushes???? Nooooooooooooo :P Maybe I should give one roll away? Hmm..

A Family Portrait.

Handy Organizers!

Loving this purchase! Hope to put it to good use!

So I've been acquiring a lot of trinkets lately, mostly skin care and cosmetics products, and they are starting to PILE UP!

It's so sleek, I wonder what to put inside it..
I hate clutter. Hate it! I feel really irritable when I'm surrounded with it. No matter how much I organize, I never seem to have enough space for anything! Gah! Can't wait for the day I've gotten my vanity table- yes please!
Hmmm, it can do this...

Til then, I must make do with what I have. Here's a couple new products that I think you might find handy as well!

This acrylic organizer was bought from our local Japan Home, for P88. Acrylic organizers from Landmark start at, oh I think P180 and up, so at half the price, this was a steal!

It has four separate comparments on one side, and two wider compartments on the other.

I'm not quite sure what to put in it... face products? Mascaras and liners? Brushes? Hmmm.... it'll come to me.

Or something like this..
The only downside (which is not so much as a downside but more of a tradeoff for the price) is that it's not completely clear. It has a hint of tint! If you've started up a collection of perfectly clear acrylic organizers, this might not mesh well with them. Oh, and there were no other sizes or shapes (is that what you call it?) aside from this.

Great buy! Some friends actually got 3 each. Hoarders!

Oh the possibilities!!
This second one is from a local online seller, Smart Mum, and it's this nifty organizer bag. It's the right size to fit shoulder bags and handbags, so you can transfer your things easily.

Sure, you can do that with those bag in bag organizer thingies (you know what I'm talking about, those rectangular things that's full of dividers), but certain things that will fit here, may not fit there. Plus, provides decent protection since it closes all the way through.

See? Full sized brushes fit right in!

You can put all sorts of whatnots here, it's quite generous. Books, notebooks, tablets, etc. A bunch of my friends, all currently being sucked by the World of Cosmetics (WoC) bought this for one purpose- as a brush holder. Travel brush bag. And I must say, it does the job QUITE WELL!

It's ten inches tall and six inches wide (unopened). It's over an inch thick, and you can really pack items inside. There are two pockets and an elastic guard for EACH side. Very ideal for makeup brushes! I'll ask my friend how much brushes she was able to pack in hers. She brought this to our Makeup Class, and it was FULL OF BRUSHES! I should have gotten a photo!

Since we pooled out orders together, we got it at a steal for P180 only. If you order just one piece, that's gonna set you back P250. Order at least six pieces and get a discount. :)

My brushes are currently drying, so no demo for that.
Well, that's that!

Oh goody! Goodies!!
Makeup class! Thanks to the group buying site, Beeconomic, my friends and I were able to snatch a 5-hour makeup class 2 days after Mother's Day! Wait, that didn't sound right. We booked the voucher and makeup class over a month ago, and I've been psyched for it ever since!

Eyes and Lips
It's unfortunate that we weren't able to get slots for the 'Basic' class. I standby the fact that it was SNATCHED for me! I had the Basic and Advanced class vouchers on my cart, but went to the kitchen for just a second, and when I came back, the Basic class already ran out! Argh!!! Sabotage! Despite that, my friends and I didn't pass off the chance for the 'Advanced' class. One of us had a Basic class scheduled, and she said it was just so much better! Redundant, I know, but the Advanced class was, sadly, a bit disappointing. Good thing I was with good company! :D

The contour kit is quite large! Should have put a coin beside it to scale.
The class started with the basic eyebrow shapes- I missed this part as I was 5 minutes late. And yes, it was done when I got there.  They were starting up on contouring already. I  have been lemming for a contour palette to practice with, and though the ELF Contour Blush and Bronzer has been helpful, it's lacking a highlighter in the mix. Since products were supposed to be 'on discounted sale' for the class, I decided to pick up this contour palette of theirs. Not sure how to rate this. It's a bit too powdery, but I don't have enough basis for comparison to judge. It also was not discounted, and there were no freebies for purchases. The only freebie we got was the ones included on the voucher we paid for- the travel brush kit, 2 snacks, and instant coffee.

Looks powdery, but it works. Maybe with a damp brush or sponge?
I don't think that very 'advanced' techniques were taught to us for contouring, or for every other ways/tricks of makeup application. I think what we were taught were the basics for these looks/principles. Like for contouring, the instructor showed us where to apply the highlighter and the shadower (ZIP IT! if you've got a word for it, well, my word works, too. If yours is truly better, fine, let me know.) This is nothing new to me. You can actually see it on YouTube, or Google diagrams for it. Actually, I think the online tutorials of other bloggers are more helpful than what we had at class, sorry TMA!

We worked on cat-eyes after that. I was also looking forward to this because I really can't get a handle on applying eyeliner. It's always crooked, and too long. The wing is never the right angle or width. The instructor did a great wing on the model! And she did it in record time. She just kept extending the wing to show us the different looks one can create with the basic eyeliner. She then set us off to go do our own. And after this class, I can safely say that...... I still suck just as much. Hence, no photo for this look. Blackmail material!
So.. conceal first? Hmm.. I want to master this look.

For the face. Tinted moisturizers, foundation, concealer, etc
The No Makeup Makeup look was next, and I was so truly looking forward to that! THIS was the reason I brought all that --->> with me! Unfortunately (again) we only discussed the principle and the steps to achieve it, but not HOW to achieve it. It sucks that she did a demo for this look, and the model (someone I know, this is a compliment to you haha!) had clear skin! No concealer needed! Gah! What about the rest of us mortals plagued with acne spots and red marks that we need to conceal? Nada. We even ask her how to apply concealers without it looking too made up, and the teacher brushed us off with 'oh just dab dab dab it on'. I asked her if we should use skin tone concealers, and she said 'Yes'. Period. What about the undereyes? What about cystic pimples? Nothing on that? Sigh... The No Makeup Makeup period lasted a whole 5 minutes LOL exaggerating, I know. It felt like 5 minutes.

Brushes. Yes, the Flat top is a bit damp. Sorry, photo op.

I got to fully use my brushes at this point, I wish we were taught on how to properly use them. It's pretty much a 'mind-your-own-business' game when the makeup application starts. I'm not asking to be spoonfed, but utilizing the brushes and teaching us how to achieve the look through the brushes we were asked to bring should have been a keep point in the class. IMHO.

Starting up the diagram for the basic 60's eye look
Next, we learned about the different makeups for the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Just the general consensus. Whatever was popular that era. We didn't go into details as to HOW TO APPLY the makeup to get those looks, we were just taught what the looks were and what the finished outcome should be like. The bulk of the class hours were spent discussing this and trying to recreate an 'era' look. Teacher did a demo of each era, one student per. It felt like she was rushing it, with the demos. She just kept on applying makeup on the model, without explaining exactly what she was doing. Wait, I'm not detailing this right. It wasn't that kind of a serious atmosphere, she did keep up conversation. And she was fun to talk to. Just not very 'instructional', if I may say so. Or maybe we were expected to know those things? Though I feel like majority, if not all, of the class were as clueless as I.

The last hour or so was spent by the students doing their faces, painting on the 60s or 80s or whichever they chose to recreate, having the class end at 4PM, making it 5 hours instead of 6.

It sucks that we spent most of the time for the old eras, when I think that was just unnecessary. And my friends agree. Hey, I'm not gonna walk out of the house tomorrow donning Twiggy's eyes, am I? Would you? How about Cyndi Lauper's face getup? No? Thought so.

I would have preferred if the class invested more time working on techniques, and looks that are wearable on the 'here and now'. Application instead of text book definitions.

Transferred the giveaway brush set
I really would have frowned all day long if it weren't for my buddies. We spent the day laughing instead! What would have made the class more enjoyable was if our other friend, Titser R, came up and introduced herself haha! In fairness to her, she did pass by and called me, "uy, andito ka din pala". It was our first time to meet personally (we know each other from Facebook), and I had just enough time to say "uy!" back before she left. I. WAS. STUMPED. Haha! Anyone who knows me know that I am reeeeeeeealllly bad with name-face coordination. The ladies with me asked who she was and I was like, "I'm not really sure" LOL! Turns out, we all, yes ALL FOUR OF US, know her! She's part of our online mommy group which I help administrate. It was more shameful for me not to recognize her, though, because we have been chatting almost daily for the past few weeks! :P I really suck at this!

I'll see her again on Saturday. Need to make it up to her then, haha!

These tips are quite useful!
What else would have made the class more enjoyable? If they had different brands available for testing. And the so-called "discounts" they said on the SMS blast (above) was suddenly forgotten when we got there. There's this long table up front where different products were laid out. Curious moms as we are, my friends and I were among the first to come forward and take a peek. I asked which among their products were on sale or discounted for the class, and the assistant instructor just looked at me weird. Uhm, well, ok. For product testers, they mostly had BYS and their own name brand, which is pretty similar Coastal Scents. I was quite curious with BYS as another friend had recommended the brand, so I tried the BYS Primer- bad idea! The bottle was a tester, so no ingredients were listed. I have a serious feeling that dimethicone is among the first three ingredients, because as soon as it touched my face, I felt my pores clog up and turn bumpy! Seriously! Like if I let the product bake there for a few hours, I think a garden of milia would sprout! And I had two itchy red spots after. Good thing there was a washroom, I gave my face some serious cleansing to take the primer gunk off. Phew!

The day ended with a more than happy note, a yummy note! We went straight to the Brothers Burgers place downstairs, chomped on grilled burgers and garlic fries, and chatted all about. I miss this things, I don't get nearly enough dose of girl talks ever since I got pregnant. Need to have more of these.
Little K and I shared this at home

Well, that's that about the class! I'm sorry if I'm not raving about it, but I should say that my friend who took the BASIC CLASS said that she learned a lot from there, and it was waaay more helpful than the ADVACED CLASS. Oh, and the snacks provided were cookies, Fudgee barr, and free coffee. I had the cookies and coffee there (I'm a sucker for coffee!), but the Fudgee barr, I saved to share with my Little K :)

Mother's Day!!

I have NO IDEA why I'm so orange here! Forget that!

Yay for another year of MOMHOOD! Yes, I look oompaloompaish on the photo, not sure why... and yes, I just took a shower. And yeah, there's tape haha! Whatever, yaya! My blog, my rules. Zipittt!

This year, my gift to myself was.. a short Makeup Crash Course! Two days after Mother's Day, which means it landed on a Tuesday- coding! Nonetheless, still got there. It was cheap, it was far, and it was colorful! Had so much fun because my girls/ladies were with me! It definitely would have been boring without them. Did I learn a lot? Uhm... not so much. BUT! I was with good, fun, friends and we spent the afternoon tinkering with makeup, what's not to like?!

The class didn't feel much like a "gift" for myself, as it was planned and ready about 2 months before (group buying site), so I guess the treat which I had bought there would be the gift? Yeah? No? Not so much? LOL!

Haaay, pangtawid gutom na contour kit? lol! Sleek, please!!
It's this contour palette- a chalky white highlighter (edited to add: I called this chalky, my friend called it CHALK!  "Chalk sya!"), and a subtle-but-obvious brown stuff. Is that a bronzer? It's perfectly matte, and completely muddy, not gold. Whatchacallit? Well, whatever it is, THAT. That's what I got from the class, because that was the first lesson- contouring. After that, we dabbled with eye colors and other face makeup, which I was prepared for (brought my own makeup). I just didn't have any contouring palette. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It's... powdery? Don't get me wrong, I think this is a decent contour kit, especially for beginners, but I've just heard so many good things about "the one I want" that I don't think I have it in me to be excited about any other contour palettes. What I really, really want is a Sleek Contour Kit, but since I don't have that, and it was a bit on-the-spot, here I am with The Makeup Artistry's contour palette. It's pretty straight to the point. I don't love it so much :( Will probably get rid of it once a certain friend of mine (ehem, MTG, ehem) gets me a Sleek kit haha!

Hmm... that is one sucky mother's day present, especially with me feeling quite indifferent about it. Maybe I should do a wishlist? Yeah, definitely!!!

If I could have anything in the world, I would want....

  1. OHM. I want peaceful roads ahead!
    Ohmmmmmm

  2. I want a Sigma Mrs. Bunny Set and the Synthetic Kabuki Set! Ooooph! Yes, please!
Les credit card cries bloody murder! Abuse! Shame on you!
  3. Decent workout shoes. I don't care about brand names, come on, it's just gonna be me, the shoes, and the TV. I don't think Shaun T. and his class would mind if I wear something generic haha! As long as it works!
    No frills.

  4. Empower 3in1 Kettlebell. I need strength training, aside from heavy cardio. (above)
  5. Hot chocolate that's sooo good, it would make my thoughts melt into oblivion.
The solution to every problem starts with a sinful cup of hot tsokolate.

  6. A morning of butter. Just me, good fresh bread, and glorious butter!! Without anyone giving me the stink eye! I'm not even gonna post a photo because I don't wanna cause my laptop to fizzle and die due to excessive drool. I DO take butter moderately, but can you imagine waking up to a full on carb breakfast with all sorts of butter on the side, NO holds barred??  Don't you roll your eyes on me! I see you! Because if you don't like butter (or vegan butter), well, I feel sorry for you. And if you do, well, mind you own butter, lady!
  7. A digital perm. My hair is just awful. Awful!!! Before it became what it is now, it was actually oh so nice! See? It used to be like that, pretty. Not so much now :/
With Little K! Miss my hair being bouncier than this!

  8. Decent makeup class. I might be getting this on Saturday, FOR FREE!! Woo hoo!!
  9. ... I don't know. I think that's it.
Yeah, I think I only really want the 8 stuff there. What does that say about me? I could actually live without 2-7 haha! Well, maybe not number 6. or 7. It's a toss up.

Regardless of all that, I had a happy Mother's Day day. I spent it out with family, eating good food, and even better dessert! Besides, we had dessert twice, how could I complain? That's sure to make me happy! Haha!
